I grew up in and around the Detroit area. This is a great music city
and the influences are many. There is always the best of Folk Music,
Soul, Pop, Jazz, Hip Hop, Rock, you name it, being played every
night of the week in Detroit. My personal experiences are based around
the Folk Coffee Houses, the rich history of Motown Records and the
great and numerous Rock 'N' Roll Clubs that thrive in Detroit. One
such Rock venue in the 60's was The Grande Ballroom. Here was a place
where the underground Hippy culture flourished and many artists found
their way to notoriety or obscurity. The premiere high energy band
that consistently played the Grande was the MC5. They were far and away
the most exciting Rock band that ever was. Here I offer a small testimonial
to them with Fred "Sonic" Smith's "Shakin' Street". Here also is a tip of
the hat to Motown with "Out On The Rooftop". My interest in all things
metaphysical show up in "Atlantis Rising" and "Love Can't Die".
It is my hope that you'll allow yourself to take a Flower Child
trip back across time with me through this assemblage of songs.
